Sister Tse arrives in New York's Chinatown by a snakehead, a human smuggler...

Although she is indebted to the crime family responsible for her transport, her survival instincts help her gain favor with the matriarch, and she rises quickly in the ranks. Soon Tse (Shuya Chang) must reconcile her success with her real reason for coming to America — to find the child that was taken from her. In the end, Sister Tse must draw on the strength she found in transforming her victimhood into power.

Evan Jackson Leong, Director

Evan Jackson Leong (or Evan Leong) is a director and documentary filmmaker. Leong is most known for his documentary Linsanity about Jeremy Lin, which made its world premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. He also directed the documentary 1040: Christianity in the New Asia (2010), and the documentary short BLT Genesis (2002), which tracks the behind-the-scenes making of and trajectory of Justin Lin‘s film, Better Luck Tomorrow. He just completed production on his first narrative feature, SNAKEHEAD.

Michael Tow, Moderator

Michael Tow is a Boston-based actor, and also an award-winning creator of Asian American social impact films and videos. As an actor, he is known for his roles in Oscar-winning films Sound of Metal with Riz Ahmed, and Lucky Grandma where he stars as the gangster Little Handsome. He has also appeared as counselor Josh Wang on Law & Order: SVU, computer hacker Del Toro on NBC’s Blindspot, as well as numerous other films and TV shows including the much anticipated upcoming sequel Hocus Pocus 2.
