Overcoming the exclusionary tendencies of art requires building institutions where civic engagement isn’t a program but is the DNA of the organizational infrastructure.
From hosting Play Reading Book Clubs, neighborhood performances, and public dialogues to making tickets affordable and holding Welcome to Boston Cast Parties around the city, ArtsEmerson provides opportunities for people to connect with artists, ideas, and each other.
Connect Over Plays
The ArtsEmerson Play Reading Book Club (PRBC) is a dynamic theatre literacy and community education program that provides unique and radical access to scripts, artists, and conversations within the theatre.
Meet the Artists
A tradition of visionary arts leader, humanist and Emerson college alumna, Ms. Elma Lewis, Welcome to Boston events are cast parties co-hosted by ArtsEmerson and community partners that celebrate the arrival of national and international artists to Boston.
Fuel the Change
Our free public dialogues are in service to our organizational mission—to foster civic transformation through the shared experience of art and public dialogue.
Experience Art Close to Home
ArtsEmerson designates specific evening performances throughout its season (also available to the general public) to welcome groups from community partners, schools and other nonprofits.
ArtsEmerson presents curators producing events that range from a live music benefit, to film screenings, to moderated discussions to a fashion show.
Every year ArtsEmerson invites an artist (or artists) to be part of our Artist Residencies program to support their work, bring new voices and perspectives to the creative process, and facilitate meaningful engagement between artists and the community.
Expand Your Education
Emerson Student Engagement includes free tickets, open rehearsals, workshops, talkbacks, and other opportunities to connect and learn with artists.
