Measure For Measure
Cheek By Jowl / The Pushkin Theatre -- Russia / UK
Contemporary society and Shakespeare’s political epic collide, revealing truths of authority, love and justice.
World renowned director Declan Donnellan brings his signature visceral, unflinching style to Measure For Measure in collaboration with Moscow’s Pushkin Theatre and London’s Cheek by Jowl. Shakespeare’s great, political epic asks vital and unsettling questions about how we are governed and, in the process, unmasks the true nature of authority, love and justice. Performed in Russian with English surtitles, experience Shakespeare’s tale in a ripped-from-the-headlines context that is as shocking as it is revelatory.
Past productions by The 7 Fingers in Boston include Reversible (2017/18), Cuisine & Confessions (2016/17), Traces (2014/15), Sequence 8 (2012/13) and PSY (2010/11).
