Join esperanza spalding, local thought leaders and scholars for a chance to unpack the groundbreaking production of Iphigenia. Following the world premiere weekend, librettist and performer esperanza spalding sits down with Boston While Black Founder Sheena Collier and acclaimed musicologist Dr. Carolyn Abbate as they break down spalding’s call to challenge the myths and structures at the foundation of our society. Additionally, Boston artist and educator U-Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo will provide an artistic response to the opera. Emerson College assistant professor and Ancient Greek scholar Dr. Dana Edell will moderate this discussion in the Robert J. Orchard Stage at the Emerson Paramount Center. In this public dialogue, audiences are invited to join the panel in making meaning of their experience of Iphigenia, and its impact in our city.
