snow and thanks

Happy New Year to all of our ArtsEmerson charter members and to the many wonderful people who have attended our work these past few months and provided valuable advice and support.

The second half of our first season opens next week with the CIVILIANS production of Atlantic Yards followed quickly by PSY from Montreal and our Irish Festival. I’m writing this in the midst of our second major snow storm of the season with the hope that we’ve taken our snow licks for the winter and you won’t have any difficulties attending any of our performances later this month and in February and March. In the spirit of the show must go on, I should let you know that we rarely if ever cancel performances due to weather. We will make every effort to accommodate you on stand-by for another performance, but canceling due to weather in weather challenged New England is not likely. One of my fondest memories is hosting an opening in the blizzard of 1978 when an audience of 60 arrived on snow shoes and cross country ski’s. We invited everyone to join us back stage for the post opening reception and the exchange with the actors both during and after the performance was magical.
