Podcast with HAMLET director Dominic Dromgoole
I’ve been nicely immersed in the world of Shakespeare’s Globe’s Hamlet for the past day. After running a lively post-performance discussion with members of the cast last night (there will be one again next Thursday night, so check it out!), this morning I spoke with Dominic Dromgoole, Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London and co-director of this production of Hamlet. It was a treat to hear his thoughts and take on everything from the inspiration for this staging to how this performance has changed in different venues to Shakespeare’s cop-out use of pirates. And I especially enjoyed his reaction to learning what time some high schools start in the U.S.
