ArtsEmerson’s 4th World Alive! Celebration
On October 3, 2019, ArtsEmerson hosted our 4th Annual World Alive! Celebration, where guests and honorees were invited to commemorate ArtsEmerson’s leadership as a catalyst for change in Boston and beyond. The centerpiece of the evening was a panel discussion moderated by Artistic Director, David Dower and feautring Daniel Beaty, Sabrina Dennison, and Joyce Linehan which explored ArtsEmerson’s role in building community through art that spark civic transformation.
Special guests included BeBe Winans (Born For This), Daniel Beaty (Mr. Joy), Esperanza Spalding, and Doris Kearn Goodwin, and Miss Cicely Tyson (The Trip to Bountiful).
Miss Tyson was honored with ArtsEmerson’s inaugural Decade Award. This award is presented every ten years to an artist that best represents the goals of ArtsEmerson for a performance in the preceding decade. Miss Tyson’s riveting performance in The Trip to Bountiful as Carrie Watts filled the Cutler Majestic Theatre and left a beautiful imprint on our history.
Complete with a surprise performance from GRAMMY Award Winning Artist BeBe Winans, it was truly an unforgettable evening of celebrating all that ArtsEmerson represents.
