ArtsEmerson suspends events to combat spread of COVID-19 virus
ArtsEmerson today announces that it will suspend scheduled public gatherings beginning Friday, March 13, with the hope of continuing more regular activity by the end of April 2020.
In all instances, ArtsEmerson is investigating whether programming may be rescheduled to a later date, and all ticket-holders will be notified directly with information and instructions as soon as possible. We request that you wait for an email with instructions rather than calling the box office. Staff members are working as quickly as possible in these challenging times.
We are all doing our best to make the smartest decisions for our communities, our families and ourselves during these unsettling times.
After careful consideration, we have chosen to suspend all performances and screenings remaining in our 10th Anniversary Season; this is part of our committment to support urgent civic efforts to flatten the curve on the spread of the infectious coronavirus (COVID-19).In this way, we stand together by standing apart.
We are thrilled to share that Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower has already been rescheduled for OCT 01-04, 2020 at the Cutler Majestic Theatre.
Our final two shows of the season, 69º S. (The Shackleton Project) and Metamorphosis, have been cancelled, as have screenings of Wise Children.
Ticket-holders for all impacted events are being contacted by the Box Office via email with instructions. You should expect to hear from the Box Office by the end of this week if you have not already. If you have tickets to one of these performances, please wait for that email rather than calling the box office. Staff members are working as quickly as possible in these challenging times.
The ArtsEmerson Box Office has suspended in-person operations in alignment with the stay-at-home advisory issued yesterday by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker. Phone or email service remains available during normal hours of operation, Tuesday – Saturday from 10am – 6pm.
At present, this summer’s Special Engagement, Step Afrika!’s Drumfolk, is scheduled to proceed as planned, JULY 22 – AUG 01.
The decision to postpone Parable of the Sower and to cancel remaining public programming of our 10th Anniversary Season were not easy decisions, but certainly the right ones. Our team has moved well throughout the swift and abrupt transitions, and we are now focused on and preparing for our return to the theater.
For us, the rainbow in this cloud is knowing that we will, when it is safe, return to our theaters—that moment when we are safe and comfortable to gather for that magical shared experience of art once again. What a day that will be!
