Meet FlawBored Theatre: The Group Behind It’s a Motherf**king Pleasure
ArtsEmerson is thrilled to welcome FlawBored Theatre to the Jackie Liebergott Black Box for their production of It’s a Motherf**king Pleasure! The show was a massive hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and received critical acclaim during it’s run at the Soho Theatre NY – and it’s Boston run is proving to be just as successful, with multiple sold-out performances even advance of its opening night!
FlawBored is a UK-based, multi-award winning disability-led theater company, co-founded by Samuel Brewer, Aarian Mehrabani, and Chloe Palmer, who are also the performers in It’s a Motherf**ing Pleasure. The company strives to create “meta theatrical work with dark irreverence,” aiming to address complex and uncomfortable issues surrounding identity while remaining cheeky, chaotic, and avoiding any semblance of portrayals of disability as “trauma-porn” or “pity-porn.” This mission statement is particularly evident in It’s a Motherf**ing Pleasure, which has been called a “tsunami of satire” (The Stage) and a “pin-sharp show overflowing with humor and righteous anger…but with no finger-waving.”
FlawBored’s shows all feature integrated, creative access throughout, seeking to create an environment where all audiences – regardless of impairments and disabilities – are able to access the same show. All performances of It’s a Motherf**ing Pleasure at ArtsEmerson have integrated audio description and integrated captioning.
This poignant, must-see show runs at the Jackie Liebergott Black Box Theatre at the Emerson Paramount Center from April 1-13. Tickets are selling quickly, so be sure to secure your seats as soon as possible – you don’t want to miss this!
