Liquor Store Dreams at the Bright Family Screening Room

ArtsEmerson has partnered with several local film organizations in Boston and the Korean-American Citizens League of New England to bring So Yun Um’s revolutionary film Liquor Store Dreams to our community!

This film is a portrait of two Korean American children of liquor store owners who navigate the complexities of their immigrant parents’ dreams while reconciling their own. Set within LA’s racial landscape, including the 1991 murder of Latasha Harlins and the 1992 uprisings sparked by the police beating of Rodney King, the film explores their journey for social and economic justice.

It’s left audiences in awe at film festivals and has been highly rated for its intimate storytelling, with Peter Sobczynski from Roger Ebert calling it a “powerful film…that proves to have a devastating and emotional impact on all who are lucky enough to see it.”

Join us on May 17 at the Bright Family Screening Room in the Paramount Center to see the incredible and poignant Liquor Store Dreams. You can learn more and purchase tickets by going to our website here.
