I thought the screening was fantastic. I have seen Richard II before on stage and on film and this was one of the best performances. David Tennant shone in the lead. The screening was so clear and crisp. Live theatre on film is wonderful as we cannot all go to Stratford-upon-Avon or other theatres around the world every time there is a play we want to see. Yes, I would like to see more of it here at Emerson. Thank you so much for showing it!!!!
A splendid production. The filmed live theater works terrifically — at least in this instance.
I hope Emerson does more.
Absolutely brilliant— the broadcast was almost as good as live theatre, and better in a couple of ways. (The close ups on faces, for example.) The play itself was amazing, totally impressed by the RSC all around. Please keep showing these; I’ll be bringing more people along next time, now I know how well it works.
So glad you enjoyed it! Keep an eye for future screenings!
I thoroughly enjoyed this screening! I’m so glad you are presenting them – please continue! This particular production of Richard II was brilliant. The characters were strikingly real and current. Excellent performances by all the cast, particularly Tenant’s Richard. I also very much enjoyed the included interviews with the director, cast, set/lighting designers. This backstage insight really enhanced the theater experience.
