They’re Back!
ArtsEmerson is thrilled to welcome back Boston favorites and iconic circus troupe, The 7 Fingers, with their brand new show, Passengers (SEP 25-OCT 13). In the past, the circus troupe has amazed Boston audiences with performances that incorporate exhilarating acrobatic feats and dance, along with empathetic and resonate acting. As Artistic Director of ArtsEmerson David Dower explains, “The thing that is so deeply satisfying about 7 Fingers, for me, besides the fact that they are a blast to work with, is the way the company embodies the vision and values of ArtsEmerson. They are the world on stage. Each cast is drawn from different parts of the world. And they bring their cultural differences right onto the stage with them. Then, in those differences they forge an ensemble. It’s a powerful message for us in these fractious times.”
The 7 Fingers appeared on ArtsEmerson’s stages many times, with such shows as Reversible, Traces, and the show stopping Cuisine and Confessions, which the Boston Globe called, “A burst of creative energy that recalls [a] joyous dance-party vibe.”
In Sequence 8, audiences witnessed incredible artistry, and awe-inspiring beauty as the troupe put on, as The Boston Globe reported, “A Hell of a show.” The cast explored the courage and limitations of the human form through difficult tricks, graceful stunts and breathtaking antics. But what started this relationship between ArtsEmerson and The 7 Fingers was PSY—a breath taking performance that included explosive stunts and tricks, that was deemed to raise “the bar on what cirque nouveau can do – not just physically but emotionally” (The Boston Herald). PSY celebrated the beauty and power of our individual feelings and thoughts through the joy and excitement of the circus.

“7 Doigts de la Main” has done a remarkable job of creating a circus with a twist: one that dazzles with both its technical expertise and its ability to access broader human emotion. – Harvard Crimson
For our 10th Anniversary Season, it only felt right to welcome back this momentous circus troupe with Passengers, where the destination is the journey. Described by the Huffintgon post as, “A magnificent show. The hour-and-a-half-long show is rich, varied, funny, tender, moving, joyful, thought provoking and brilliantly executed. Passengers is a multidisciplinary, multisensory show.” Join us this September as we hop aboard a train ride like none other.
