How to Watch Theatre in Your Living Room

We cannot wait to return to our theaters again alongside the artists and audiences that make ArtsEmerson seasons so special. In the meantime, we continue to be Boston’s leading presenter of contemporary world theatre, it’s just that we perform for you at your home, not ours.

Which brings us to today’s topic: how to enhance and maximize your home viewing experience. The particulars of each of our digital presentations might be slightly different—which is why we created this streaming FAQ— but for this blog post we’ll use Julia as an example. Julia takes the Strindberg classic Miss Julie and audaciously revises it in this hypnotic production from internationally praised Brazilian theatremaker Christiane Jatahy. It streams FEB 09 – 22, 2021 with On Demand Viewing.

You can certainly watch our presentations on your laptop, or even your phone, but we highly recommend streaming to your television for the best experience. If you know how to cast video from your laptop to your TV, you already know exactly what to do, but for those who are unfamiliar, use Roku or Apple TV to do the job.

  • On your Roku device, go to the Channel Store and search for and add the ArtsEmerson channel.
  • Once installed, select “Enter Code” under “Ticket Holders.” On the Voucher Code screen, enter the 10-digit voucher code from the bottom of your invoice. The film will then play automatically.
  • To watch the Q&A – click on the Bonus Content or Live Event link to be taken to Zoom/Livestream.
  • On your Apple TV, go to the App store and search for and install the ArtsEmerson app. (Note: the app is only available on the Apple TV console and not on other Apple devices)

We hope you’ve been enjoying our digital content and that this guide makes your experiences all the better! It’s truly an honor to keep presenting theatre throughout this time, especially in your living rooms.
