What’s On in 2025?

The first half of our 24/25 Season has been a huge success with interactive theater, dance performances, and multimedia productions. The second half of the season, beginning in January 2025, is set to present another slate of hit productions, with shows from around the world, from South Africa to the United Kingdom! Let’s take a look at what the new year has in store for ArtsEmerson.

ArtsEmerson’s first performance of 2025 is Life & Times of Michael K, running from January 31 – February 9 at the Emerson Paramount Center. This production, adapted from the Pulitzer prize winning book of the same name, tells the story of a young man as he journeys through a treacherous, war-torn South Africa to try to bring his mother back to the farm she grew up on. This show, brought to life by South Africa’s Baxter Theatre in collaboration with Handspring Puppet Company, has been international hit and is sure to be a must-see show when it arrives in Boston in the new year.

In early spring, ArtsEmerson, in a presenting partnership with Boston Lyric Opera, will proudly present The Seasons, running at the Robert J. Orchard Stage from March 12-16. This performance is a meditation on the relationship between our contemporary moment and Vivaldi’s iconic Four Seasons, which is paired with additional arias and ensembles. The show voyages into the classical world, where the operatic voices travel through the passage of Vivaldi’s famous composition, illustrating the urgency and importance of global climate change as we know it.

The 24/25 season continues with FlawBored’s It’s a Motherf**king Pleasure, arriving in Boston from April 2-15 at the Jackie Liebergott Black Box in the Emerson Paramount Center. Coming straight off a thrilling run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and at the Soho Theatre in New York, this production is a scathing satire on the monetization of identity politics that spares no one and literally has audiences catching their breath between fits of laughter. The show asks audiences to reconsider their notions of what theater might mean, and how the arts are funneled directly into advocacy.

Closing out the ArtsEmerson’s season is Utopian Hotline, a special engagement at the Museum of Science Planetarium and produced in association with Octopus Theatricals, running from May 1-18. Inspired by a 1977 NASA Mission, the performances launches audiences into space through an immersive experience, asking them to consider what our collective future may look like.

Tickets for these remaining four shows are available for purchase on the ArtsEmerson website, over the phone, or in person at the Box Office. Which 2025 production are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments and we will see you at our venues in the New Year!
