“INTRIGUINGLY ORIGINAL. [Mrs. Krishnan’s Party] is a revelry-centered show that begs audiences to forget their troubles at the door and uses storytelling and cooking to entice.”

— Jacquinn Sinclair, WBUR

Mrs. Krishnan is throwing an immersive, theatrical party like no other, and YOU’RE invited.

Mrs. Krishnan is renting an apartment to larger-than-life DJ, James. James has invited a few friends into the back room of Mrs. Krishnan’s corner shop as a special surprise to celebrate Onam—an ancient Hindu festival of Kerala that celebrates rice harvest—and the return home of her son. But when dozens and dozens of strangers turn up (you, the audience), Mrs. K has no choice but to throw the party of her life! This is an immersive experience like no other; join the party with music, dancing, and more. Watch as the cast juggles cooking, music, and welcoming guests in an unfolding drama where no two performances are ever the same. Performers Kalyani Nagarajan and Justin Rogers have reviewers and audiences singing their praises and leaping to their feet in appreciation at the end of the party where the entire audience is invited to sample some delicious dahl!

From Indian Ink Theatre Company comes this utterly disarming new comedy that celebrates life, death, and rebirth. It’s joyous. It’s heart-warming. It’s Mrs. Krishnan’s Party.

Indian Ink Theatre Company

The extraordinary artistic partnership of Jacob Rajan and Justin Lewis is now comfortably in its second decade. Together, they have created a series of remarkable theatre productions of intimate scale, each one reminding us of the simple truths of life.

Indian Ink blend western theatrical traditions with eastern flavors in pursuit of ‘serious laughter.’ Live music, heightened theatricality, humor, pathos and great storytelling are hallmarks of their work.

Indian Ink has won multiple awards in New Zealand and two Fringe First Awards at Edinburgh. The company’s international successes include tours throughout Australia and the USA, as well as sell out seasons in Singapore, Germany, India and the UK.

“We aim to make theatre that is beautiful, funny, sad and true. We go to the theatre to be transported by a great story and to enjoy characters that live large in our imaginations. We want the experience to leave an indelible imprint on your hearts. That’s why we’re called Indian Ink!”
