What a pleasure to be part of the audience for the first performance here in Boston last night. Nalaga’at is a community of people who truly inspire us all to be better human beings. I fell in love with the troupe from the moment I entered the theater watching them kneading dough. And I left with hugs, delicious bread and as a richer person. Thank you for bringing this important show and these amazing people to Boston.

“Not By Bread Alone” was an amazing performance. It was both educational and entertaining to experience a play where the actors and actresses were deaf and/or blind. The acting was phenomenal, there was great dialogue, and I really enjoyed seeing a performance from a different perspective!

This was an amazing, heart-warming, immersive experience and entertaining theater. The idea of baking the bread on stage and inviting everyone to meet the cast and taste the bread was innovative and inclusive! As an Israeli, I am proud that this production comes from our country. more known for its technology and regional conflicts.

Phenomenal! Exceeded expectations. It was funny, poignant, and showed our common humanity. Our experience happened to be enhanced by two pairs of people sitting in the two rows in front of us (balcony) who were partnered with personal interpreters. It appeared that both were interpreting for deaf as well as visually impaired adults. I hope this troupe gets wider recognition in the U.S.

A totally unique and truly wonderful experience. I didn’t know what to expect when I bought the tickets but thought it would be interesting.
It was moving to hear about people’s lives and their love for their community, their dreams and desires. Using bread as a metaphor and as a way to pace and time the show was rich and a thoughtful. It was a meaningful way in which to invite us, the audience, onto the stage and into their community.
    Thank you!

“Not By Bread alone” was one of the most interesting dramas I have experienced in a long time. It was moving, poignant, funny, and had a high degree of dramatic tension. As a musician, I especially enjoyed the haunting and lyrical melodies interspersed throughout the dramatization . Reading about the Nalaga’at movement was an introduction to an entire new world of humanitarian and artistic creative culture. I am so glad the troupe came to Boston on its American tour and that a friend invited me to attend.

It was an AMAZING performance. Absolutely touching, moving and sensitive. We are very grateful that these people with such beautiful souls gave us the opportunity to experience just for a little bit their world of silence and darkness. But it is also a world of beauty, dreams, ambitions and love.
I was amazed and touched by these actors and I hope that their work is going to be further recognized and that they will give love and life-lessons to more people in different countries. I want to thank them for this one of a kind experience.
